TERNA Rete Elettrica Nazionale SpA se dedica a la explotación de redes de transporte de electricidad. La empresa opera a través de los siguientes segmentos: Regulado, No Regulado e Internacional. El segmento Regulado incluye el desarrollo, operación y mantenimiento de la Red Nacional de Transmisión, además del despacho y medición, y las actividades relacionadas con la construcción de sistemas de almacenamiento. El segmento No regulado incluye las actividades desreguladas e iniciativas de negocio específicas, sobre todo relacionadas con las actividades Industriales. El segmento Internacional incluye los resultados derivados de las oportunidades de expansión internacional, que el Grupo pretende explotar aprovechando sus competencias básicas desarrolladas en Italia como TSO, donde dichas competencias tienen una importancia significativa en su país de origen. Gestiona el transporte de electricidad en Italia. Se encarga de todo el sistema eléctrico y de garantizar el suministro de electricidad a todas las empresas y particulares. La empresa se fundó en 1962 y tiene su sede en Roma (Italia).
